The number of students admitted each year is close to 4500. The total number of students is nowadays about 17 400. They are studying at 7 faculties: Architecture, Chemical Engineering & Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Physics and Computer Modelling.
The students are awarded the degree of in¿ynier (which is relevant to B.Sc.), linencjat (which is relevant to B.Sc.), magister in¿ynier (which is relevant to M.Sc.) and doktor in¿ynier (which is relevant to Ph.D). The curricula of the four kinds are : full-time study, vocational full-time study (in¿ynier, and magister in¿ynier degrees), extra-mural study:(in¿ynier degree), Maths at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Computer Modelling (licencjat degree), evening study: at the Faculty of Architecture (magister in¿ynier degree), Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (in¿ynier degree)
Foreign students willing to undertake studies at CUT can call Polish diplomatic agencies or directly CUT for information on the admission requirements and courses offered. The applicants to the Faculty of Architecture have to take an entrance examination in drawing skills; no entrance examinations to the other faculties are required. The fee to be paid by foreign students in the academic year 2003/04 (dependent of a faculty) is about: 2 000- 5 000 Euro per year for full-time M.Sc.; 2 000 - 4 000 Euro for vocational B.Sc. courses; 2 000 - 6 000 Euro for complementary studies held in Polish, and 8 000 - 12 000 Euro for complementary studies held in English and for 4 000 - 8 000 Euro for Ph.D. courses. Study at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology held in English, full-time magister in¿ynier degree costs 12 000 Euro. As lectures at other faculties are given in Polish, students usually take one year Polish course at specialised institutions in Poland before they begin their studies.
Magister in¿ynier - mgr in¿., (comparable to a M.Sc. degree). The full-time studies for M.Sc. degree take 5 years. The degree may be awarded from all CUT's faculties. During the last semester the students work on their diploma projects. The students are granted the degree of engineer after they have fulfilled the requirements as those for obtaining the M.Sc. The B.Sc. degree can not be obtained from Faculty of Architecture.
Licencjat - (comparable to B.Sc. degree) the professional title awarded following the completion of 3 or 3,5 year higher professional education courses.
